The Eden Park Standpipe was designed as a water tower for the Cincinnati neighborhood of Walnut Hills. Completed in 1894, this Samuel Hannaford design stands 172 feet tall and holds a commanding view of Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and the Ohio River from an observation deck which is now closed to the public. It was initially constructed with a copper spire which was removed during a World War II scrap drive. The Victorian-era structure with Romanesque Revival design elements ceased operation as a water tower in 1916 and has at times been used as a WWI garrison and communications tower, though it is not currently in use in any official capacity.
I took up photography during a family trip to Colorado. I had purchased a camera for the family to use on trips and I had an afternoon to kill, so I grabbed the camera and discovered a new passion. At first, I focused on nature and cityscape photography, though lately, I've settled on urban architecture. I like the lines and forms of the city, and exploring my hometown of Cincinnati is always an adventure.
